Tiny lessons. BIG impact.

Parent involvement is the great equalizer that can put historically underserved and oppressed communities on equal footing. Unfortunately, not all parents are confident about what they need to know, do, and say to help to create better opportunities and optimal learning conditions for their families.

In just 60 concise text messages Dr. Dee lays out in plain language (and emojis 😃), the keys to success in and out of school. Public Schools Unlocked is a thoughtful and culturally responsive parent engagement curriculum written by educator, Dr. Dayana “Dee” Philippi and edited by family physician, Dr. Anita Pierre-Antione, M.D.

Interactive lessons available in 11 languages via reoccurring SMS text message, WhatsApp, and email for busy parents and caregivers.

Your Are Welcome 🤝 Here!

Newcomer 💜 Support & 🗺️Orientation Course

Vulnerable middle school and high school newcomer’s (refugees and immigrants) need to integrate quickly, adjust socially, and learn enough English to meet achievement standards, earn academic credits, and graduate in a short period of time. It’s no wonder that these students move through several stages of culture shock from honeymoon, hostility, crisis, and humor before they achieve adjustment.

Together, we have the power to help newcomers overcome difficulties and alleviate culture shock as it pertains to how our public schools work and expectations of student and parent engagement.

The “You are Welcome Here” interactive orientation course delivers 20 bite-sized chunks of the best “Welcome” lessons directly to students’ and caregivers’ cell phones. These carefully curated lessons, based on the Public Schools Unlocked family engagement curriculum, help to orient students to the school environment, promote habits that support language development, and encourage biculturalism.
